The Road (Oprah's Book Club)

The Road - Cormac McCarthy Are we still the good guys? he said.
Yes. We're still the good guys.
And we always will be.
Yes. We always will be.

This book haunted me for days after I finished it. This tale of a father and son's journey through a post-apocalyptic world is frightening, yet beautiful. The minimal language only adds to the bleak reality of the world that we are shown. This book had an emotional hold on me, and I teared up in a few spots. This is not a "happily ever after" story. But as I finished, I felt a strange sense of hope that even though all this had happened, it would still be okay in the end.
